A local success bit while users still fail
The Bad Failover · Fort GridCyber
The dashboard is green. Users are still failing.
Users keep missing the service requirement after the health bit has already flipped.
DEMONSTRATION SCENARIO
This is a demonstration scenario. It is not a live demonstration and does not report an executed result.
A shared service has been impaired. A local health indicator then reports recovery.
The dashboard is green. Users still cannot complete the work.
A green dashboard can be an early health bit, a failover that only looks finished, or users who have actually recovered. Closing on the bit answers only one of those.
Closing the incident because the health bit is green should not count while users still fail.
V8Y must distinguish an early health bit from a consumer path that is still broken and from a failover that only looks finished, and stay with users until they meet the requirement.
The user requirement stays missed if work stops at the green bit.
Not recovery
Success is not a green health indicator.
Recovery
Success is that dependent users meet the requirement.
