Iron Trail
The Path
Two reports go stale together. One path, or two failures?
Route reconnaissance and unmanned reporting can both miss the freshness a follow-on decision needs.
AVAILABLE DEMONSTRATION
No footage is published on this page. The demonstration is available in a briefing.
The situation
Scout reports and aircraft reports have been moving on a shared communications path, and each flow has been meeting its update time.
Both pictures go stale together. Either screen, alone, looks like its own outage.
Why this is hard
Two flows can fail together because they share a path, or because two separate faults happened to coincide. Those readings do not call the same owner.
Repairing one terminal, or restarting a camera, should not count if both required flows are still stale.

What V8Y must determine
V8Y must distinguish one shared segment from two separate endpoint failures, and say which flows miss freshness if the shared segment is the one that failed.
What may happen next
If the shared segment stays impaired, both report flows miss the freshness the next decision needs.
What counts as recovery
Not recovery
Success is not one radio that looks up.
Recovery
Success is that both required report flows are fresh again on a path that can carry them.
Observed results
No measured baseline, degraded, or recovered values are published on this page. The demonstration is available in a briefing.
What this demonstrates
- One segment distinguished from two endpoint failures.
- Which later decision is exposed once the break is known.
- The repair has to follow that distinction.
- Recovery judged on both report flows.
Operational basis

Grounded in documented cases where several military uses, including unmanned reporting, depended on one satellite bearer. The timing in this demonstration is synthetic, not a measurement from one battle.
