The situation
A unit is conducting local work on its own communications. A shared regional layer had been carrying the wider picture.
Local work continues. The regional picture does not show the unit’s actions.
Why this is hard
The unit can be effective and isolated, or it can have failed, or the picture can be the wrong view of a system that is still reachable. Restoring a link is the wrong first act for a picture that was never unreachable.
Declaring the local unit dead, or editing the view, should not count until that distinction is made.
