Vector Lantern
Missed Window
The contact is scheduled. The horizon can still revoke it.
A required contact, and the tasking that rides on it, can be lost when the aperture’s horizon closes.
DEMONSTRATION SCENARIO
This is a demonstration scenario. It is not a live demonstration and does not report an executed result.
The situation
A required contact is reserved on a ground aperture. Another use wants the same aperture. The contact has not been lost yet.
The contact remains on the schedule. Its margin against the horizon is shrinking.
Why this is hard
A closing contact can be a colliding reservation, a dead link, a stalled payload, or a processor backlog. High use alone is not the finding.
Throttling processors, or inventing an aperture that does not exist, should not count as saving the contact.
What the operator can see
- NowContact still scheduled
- TrendMargin shrinking
- HorizonRevocation
What V8Y must determine
V8Y must distinguish a colliding reservation from a dead link, a stalled payload, and a backlog, and say whether an eligible alternate can carry the contact before the horizon.
What may happen next
The contact is revoked at the horizon if it is not rebound.
What counts as recovery
Not recovery
Success is not a busier antenna.
Recovery
Success is that the required contact and its tasking acknowledgement complete on an eligible alternate before the horizon.
Observed results
No executed results are published for this thread.
What this evaluation would test
- A closing window separated from a dead link.
- An eligible alternate, not an invented one.
- Action before the horizon, not after loss.
- Recovery judged on the contact and the acknowledgement.
These are the conditions the evaluation would test. They are not reported results.
Operational basis
View operational basis and sources
Grounded in a GAO finding that the Satellite Control Network deleted scheduled contacts because single-satellite antennas were oversubscribed. Treating one lost pass as a unique-operation loss is synthetic, not that case file.
