Vector Lantern
The Backlog
Observations are arriving. The tracks are falling behind.
Consumers lose track freshness even though the contact already delivered the observations.
DEMONSTRATION SCENARIO
This is a demonstration scenario. It is not a live demonstration and does not report an executed result.
The situation
A contact has delivered observations. Shared processors are handling priority products and other work.
Observations arrive. Lag grows, and track age rises.
Why this is hard
Lag after a successful contact can be a replay holding the processors, a missed contact, or a broken downlink. Slowing the wrong work does not restore freshness.
Treating this as a missed antenna window should not count while observations are still arriving.
What the operator can see
- NormalObservations arriving
- VisibleLag and track age
- At riskFreshness misses
What V8Y must determine
V8Y must distinguish a non-priority replay on the processors from a missed contact and a broken downlink, and constrain only the workload that is actually at fault.
What may happen next
Consumer lag rises, then track freshness misses, if the holding workload stays unconstrained.
What counts as recovery
Not recovery
Success is not a quiet processor.
Recovery
Success is that lag and track freshness recover while the replay still flows.
Observed results
No executed results are published for this thread.
What this evaluation would test
- Arriving observations separated from a missed contact.
- The lagging workload constrained, not erased.
- Track freshness as the mission edge.
- A synthetic cause, not a deep-space scheduling audit.
These are the conditions the evaluation would test. They are not reported results.
Operational basis

A synthetic demonstration. Open audits of military UHF and the Deep Space Network describe access contention, which is a different problem. The processing cause in this scenario is synthetic.
