Order OverloadMission Cloud
Live transactions are failing. A query may be why.
Transaction errors continue until the workload holding the store is identified.
DEMONSTRATION SCENARIO
This is a demonstration scenario. It is not a live demonstration and does not report an executed result.
Live transactions and analytical work share one datastore. Transactions have been succeeding.
Live transactions fail. A heavy query is running.
The store can be pinned by a non-priority query, the network path can be saturated by a surge, or a quiet capacity trend can be the real story. Stopping the wrong workload does not bring transactions back.
Rate-limiting the front door should not count if the database is the pool that is exhausted.
V8Y must distinguish a non-priority query, a path surge, and a quiet capacity trend. Stopping the wrong workload does not bring live transactions back.
Transaction errors continue until the right workload is handled.
Not recovery
Success is not a quieter network.
Recovery
Success is that live transactions succeed.
Observed results
No executed results are published for this thread.
These are the conditions the evaluation would test. They are not reported results.
Derived from Depot’s May outage, in which one cache-exploration query drove a shared database to exhaustion and took down provisioning and authentication. The analytics setting is synthetic, not a second incident.
